DETAILS

Sometimes when we turn inward and pay attention to our emotions, we find ourselves tuned in to an argument going on in our head. One part of us is excited and charged up about things that are looking forward to in our future, but another part of us is cautious and hesitant, wary of getting expectations too high out of fear of being disappointed. In her book, Daring Greatly, Brené Brown refers to this inner conflict as “foreboding joy.” Join us for an evening’s conversation as we explore these polarized emotions. Tom Ott is a recently retired pastor and psychologist. He served United Church of Christ congregations in Allentown Pennsylvania, Waban Massachusetts, Manistee Michigan, Webster New York and Battle Creek Michigan. In his therapy practice he has worked in Community Mental Health and in private practice with couples and individual adults to help facilitate their healing from trauma, addiction and grief.
